Tiff Needell kicks the series off in style with the fastest car in the world - the Bugatti Veyron. As well as a breath-taking road test on the public roads, Tiff takes the Veyron to a circuit for the first ever television test of this £890,000 beast on a track.
We know it can do 253mph in a straight line, but does it handle? Tiff will reveal all.
He also manages to steal a few moments inside the French chateau where the car is assembled. Walking amongst the cars being built, he sees the weird and wonderful colour combinations the rich customers have specified, finds out why some people have had to buy two Veyrons, and learns the secrets of the car that every owner should know…

[..YouTube..] Top Gear already tested it on a trip across Europe. Jeremy Clarkson would go on to declare that it is indeed the greatest car ever built. The reason they won’t let Top Gear test it around their track with STIG is because they don’t want to reveal the actual capability of this car.

[..YouTube..] Before you said that, have you ever thought that not only the Bugatti Veyron is the fastest in terms of Top Speed, it is also one of the quickest accelerating and one of the best braking full-production road cars ever made? It also has very good stability and traction and based on its reviews and roadtest, it handle remarkably well despite its weight.

[..YouTube..] it could be…though anyone who has driven the mclaren f1 has had nothing but praise. its not racey stiff like an f40/f50…its hard enough to get great numbers, yet comfortable for street use.it’s lightweight compared to the veyron…it uses a less complex and imo better drivetrain…etc…the car is just built as a drivers car rather than a car to take pictures beside.the veyron is for the paris hilton generation…a machine you drive just to get looks, yet it doesnt perform.

[..YouTube..] What do you mean the Mclaren F1 has had nothing but praise? The Mclaren F1 suffers from vague steering, mild body roll when cornering and most notably, high speed instability and it was very twitchy especially at the limit. Its brakes and gearbox are far from the best either.

[..YouTube..] mild body roll isn’t really an issue as it wasn’t meant to be a track car…just like the supposed high speed instability…ive seen many videos inside and out of the car doing high-speed runs with no obvious issues. vague steering could be down to the fact that everything isn’t solid, but rather poly/rubber mounted so things are slightly less direct. the three seats is a great idea, as is the hidden luggage. to me, it’s the ultimate street exotic…for the track id take a gt40 kit car
